Cladding and other aluminum accessories are available in powder-coated or anodized finishes. Faux-wood grain finishes are also an option. The possibilities of color, gloss level and surface texture are nearly limitless.
During the powder coating process, dry pigment is applied to the exposed aluminum. The coating is then baked onto the surface at temperatures of up to 480 F (250°C), forming a permanent bond with the aluminum and providing optimum protection from scratches, fading and corrosion.
An anodized finish is achieved by dipping aluminum in an electrolytic bath. Anodization provides a thin layer of protection to the raw material; however, environmental factors may alter the colors, and surface scratches are difficult to conceal. Alternatively, metallic-effect powder coatings closely mimic the look of anodized colors, offer variations in texture, retain a consistent look over time and can be retouched if necessary.
Sample codes containing a "C" show common anodized finishes, whereas those with an "R" depict a selection of metallic-effect coatings.
